  1. Born in SE London into a rail enthusiast family we diidnt as youngsters appreciate what a modern railway the Southern was (the Southern region by then) Our regular diet was 4 SUBs then 4EPB from catford bridge with the occasional steamer through Catford.

    Holidays and days out were always by train in what we saw as fast and comfortable. The Southern had the best of modern and old in having electrics where it made sence and modern steam elsewhere, even if the spam cans were a bit odd.

    The Sourhern is simply my favourite which I model in the period I remember the 50s andd 60s
