From any angle the MNs are lovely, purposeful machines.
Wishing you Happy Birthday for the 4th, Graham.
You may have seen in Railway Bylines, July 2018, an article with some great photos of the Royal Pier Railway in Southampton. The lower photo on page 377 is simply beautiful and has set my modelling genes all of a quiver! That Shanks loco, all pipework, so tiny and ungainly (complete opposite of a Bulleid Pacific!) and the typography of the advertising on the ends of the awnings simply ooze character. Have you modelled, or do you know anyone who has modelled, this feature? For me, it’s the perfect subject for a diorama, and it could be temporarily operated by “Guernsey” until someone (me?) builds a Shanks.
best regards
