Model Rail Live and Reading RSME shows this weekend

This weekend sees a number of events taking place that I feel are worthy of a mention; firstly Model Rail Live   Following the success of last years inaugural event is once again being held at the Barrow Hill Roundhouse home to a wide range of steam, electric and Diesel locomotives and along with a number of visiting engines including ‘Tornado’ will provide a great backdrop to a impressive line up of Model Railway layouts, demonstrators and trade stands.

One of the highlights of the weekend will be the first public showing of Chris Nevard’s latest masterpiece Brewhouse Quay

If you are able, unlike me, to get there it will be well worth the trip.

Secondly, one of the reasons that I am unable to attend Model Rail Live is that I shall be assisting fellow High Wycombe and District MRS member Simon Paley and his dad Alan exhibiting their layout Hythe Parkway at the Reading Society of Model Engineers  show unsurprisingly in Reading. This event is an interesting mix of model railways and model engineering. I exhibited Fisherton Sarum there last year amongst the working large model tanks being driven around and even a full size Dalek scaring the kids! They also have a permanent multi-gauge (3 1/2″ and 5″ gauge) raised railway track and will providing rides on these circuits over the weekend.
