Graham, Were the bands in body colour? I always thought they were orange and black???. It’s difficult to determine from this picture – https://uk.pinterest.com/iangcfriend/trains-things/ but it doesn’t look loke just the main body color to me.
I remember when they were on the 5:50pm from Exeter. Quite a revelation! Someone was asking how noisy they were. At my parent’s house you could not hear any steam locomotive action but the Bullied diesels were quite audible as they headed up the Axe valley!

Once the Bulleid Diesels were painted green when on the LMR they did indeed have an orange/black/orange bodyside stripe and the green version of the model will also have this lining (as I stated in the text of the post)
