The model railway world and mainly Southern Railway meanderings of Graham 'Muz' Muspratt
Picture of the Month – July 2015
This months picture…
Pull Push set converted from ex LSWR 46′ 6″ Emigrant corridor stock number 734, which is is a Northstar Models built model, heads west past the shed at Fisherton Sarum propelled by Kit built M7 0-4-4T number 47.
An evocative picture that really does capture the essence of Southern railway branch traffic. I think I saw a similar vehicle in one of my S and D books, and I really like them, are there any manufacturers still producing this type of driving coach?
Then the question arises should you scrap the old kit built stock when good RTR arrives? I have yet to put my two Hornby Black Motors alongside the old kit built (Bec?) equivalent but it is clear it is no contest. The Hornby M7s are also gorgeous but I do not own a kit built M7 to compare. I think I will overcome the nostalgia and free up the space! Anyone want a Bec 700?
