New LSWR and Southern lineside detailing items available from ModelU

My friends at ModelU have announced a range 3D printed of Southern Railway lineside detailing items and London South Western Railway (LSWR) Barley Twist lamps.  The SR produced a huge range of ‘standard’ / ‘ catalogue’ concrete at their, originally LSWR own concrete works at Exmouth Junction. Many of these items were also sold to other railway companies so could be seen across the UK network.

The ModelU Station Running Boards you can specify your own name at the time of order

The  highly detailed and crisply 3D printed MODELU items, in either 4mm or 7mm scales,  are supplied ready to paint without the need for any fettling or primer.  I tend to paint 3D printed items, such as figures,  using matt acrylics, my prefered range is Vallejo, although for these SR items the correct colours such as SR Middle Chrome Green are available from Phoenix Precision Paints.

The items newly released are as follows (click link to order):

LSWR Barley Twist Station lamps (non working)

Note: the LSWR Barley Twist Station Lamps are cosmetic lamps only and do not include tubing, wiring or lighting. They have a hollow centre into which brass tubing can be inserted for strengthening or lighting purposes.

If you have not had a look at the excellent MODELU range of people, loco crew, animals and details accessories such as loco lamps etc. then take a look here, or catch them at an exhibition and even get yourself scanned there and then to ultimately create a mini you figure in a pose of your choice to be part of a crew your own locomotive or feature elsewhere on your model railway.

  1. These look excellent. Thanks for highlighting Graham. Modelu figures are unbeatable and it is good to see their range is extending. Running in boards look particularly attractive. Probably just right for the new layout I hope to plan when I move House shortly.

  2. Great to see the SR barley twist lamps. I was at school near the Portsmouth line and the nearby station had these lamps but with the swan neck tops and gas mantles which if I recall correctly were ‘switched on’ with a rocking chain mechanism.

  3. Thank you for the ‘heads up’ Graham.
Have purchased items previously from ModelU and been most pleased!

  4. Glad these are well received Graham.
The nameboards, gradient posts, whistleboards and mileposts have extra length on the posts so people can sink them in to the layout if wanted.
(I was responsible for designing all but the lamp up and hope to bring more in the near future!)

  5. This is very jolly. I’m in for the station name boards, the lamps and the set of various bits .In my ideal world, I would like to see the swan neck lamps too. Maybe they would be difficult to 3d print
