The Isle of Wight Steam Railway via Bachmann produces three exclusive models, Adams O2 Calbourne, ex LBSC coach twin pack and Haven Street station

The Isle of Wight Steam Railway (IoWSR) and Bachmann Europe have partnered to produce a range of exclusive models centred around the locomotives, rolling stock and buildings found on the Isle of Wight’s only preserved railway.

The Exclusive to the IoWSR Calbourne

The first model to be produced by the partnership is the LSWR Adams O2 Steam Locomotive No. 24 ‘Calbourne’. The OO Scale model of this elegant locomotive was first produced in 2021, however such was its success that a second batch was quickly ordered and these are available to purchase now, priced at £174.95.

‘Calbourne’ was the first locomotive to be acquired by the embryonic steam railway in 1967 and is the only surviving example of the Adams O2 Class.
The railway’s flagship locomotive returned to traffic following overhaul in 2021, decorated in the vibrant Southern Railway Malachite Green livery as portrayed by the model.

The latest model to be revealed by the IoWSR is a OO Scale coach pack, comprising two coaches, which, like ‘Calbourne’, is produced by Bachmann’s EFE Rail brand and are being produced alongside the main range IoW coach packs that were announced by Bachmann last month. The coaches depicted in the pack are the 9-compartment Third to Diagram 210 No. 2416 and 8-compartment Composite to Diagram 373 No. 6349; which both operate on the railway today. Before being acquired by the IoWSR, No. 2416 was part of the final steam working from Shanklin which ran on 31st December 1966, whilst No. 6349 had been reserved for another preservation scheme following withdrawal but ended up at the IoWSR when the other scheme foundered. Both coaches are regularly in service today, decorated in Southern Railway Malachite Green livery as depicted by the new twin pack of models. Each pack is priced at £134.95 and delivery is expected towards the end of 2025.

44-1013Z Havenstreet Station

The third and final model for now is a OO Scale replica of Havenstreet Station produced by Bachmann Scenecraft. Havenstreet has been the headquarters of the Isle of Wight Steam Railway since it began preservation-era operations in 1971 and the original station building is still in use today, making it the perfect complement to the models of ‘Calbourne’ and the new coach pack. The Scenecraft model depicts
Havenstreet Station in its current condition, resplendent in late-Southern Railway style. Priced at £79.95, delivery is expected during April 2025.
