Rapido Trains UK announce – SER/SECR 10 Ton Open Wagons and a 2nd batch of SER /SECR 20t 6-Wheel Brake Vans in 00 gauge

Rapido trains UK have announced South Eastern Railway (SER) / South Eastern and Chatham Railway (SECR) 10 Ton Diagram 1340 and 1341 Open Wagons and a second run of SER /SECR 20t 6-Wheel Brake Vans to Diagram 1558 in 00 gauge.

The SER / SECR 10 Ton 5 plank open wagon range will comprise of both (SR diagram numbers) Diagram 1340 open goods wagons and 1341 coal wagons (although were also used as open goods wagons)  including three body styles, full round, low-D and flat ends and cover liveries from SER to SR days. Around 1250 of these wagons were built between 1897 and 1901.
Both versions were 15’5″ long with a 9’4″ wheelbase, the only noticeable difference between the two diagrams is the low D shaped ends and Williams Pattern sheet rail on the D1341 and the round ends on the D1340.  Many were converted in 1912 to square ended. The SR inherited the majority of these wagons but were generally scrapped with the last D1340 surviving until 1942 and the D1341 in 1948.

The models feature split spoke wheels, stones patent either side brakes, SER D type axle boxes and ribbed buffers. The D1341 low D design will come with optional parts to fit a sheet rail in either the up and at rest positions. An incredible 25 versions being produced:
