New Bachmann Bulleid coaches and EFE Rail Class 74 details released

Bachmann announced last Friday that they are producing the ‘missing’ Diagram 2406 Bulleid ‘loose’ Brake Composite (BCK), the Diagram 2017 Third Open (TO) and the Class 74 (HB) Electro-Diesel in 00 gauge, today details of the versions being released have been announced as part of their British Railway Announcements for Spring 2025.

Along with the two new vehicles depicting the Diagram 2406 Brake Composite Corridor (BCK) and the Diagram 2017 Third Open (TO), click here to read the details, a further batch of Bulleid coaches in various liveries have been announced, as follows:

  • 34-726A SR Bulleid Brake Second Semi-Open 10’’ Vents BR (SR) Green, S4323S part of 3 coach ‘L’ set 781 (BTK-CK-BTK). With bodyside ribs, Twin vacuum brake cylinders, Bulleid pattern battery boxes and dynamo, long footboards, short roof tank.

EFE Rail Class 74

The EFE Rail range sees the introduction of the Class 74 (Pre-TOPS designation HB) Bo-Bo Electro Diesel. Ten  locomotives were rebuilt during 1967/8 from the earlier 24 strong all electric class 71.  The model, click here to read the details, is being released in the following versions:

  • E82006 Class 74 Electro-Diesel Number E6101 BR Blue with yellow / red stripe axle boxes, as introduced in March 1968 and gaining data panel during late 1968
  • E82007 Class 74 Electro-Diesel Number E6104 BR Blue with data panel as running between 1968 and December 1973
  • E82008 Class 74 Electro-Diesel Number 74 007 BR Blue as running between February 1974 and withdrawal in December 1977
  • E82009 Class 74 Electro-Diesel Number 74 010 BR Blue as running between February 1974 and withdrawal in December 1977, with window ‘A’ pillar vents.
  • E82010 Class 74 Electro-Diesel Number 74 009 BR Blue (weathered) as running between January 1974 and withdrawal in December 1977

  2. Great news!

    One small comment: in reusing the 34-726 catalogue number for the new BSK 10″ ventilators it is also going to get very confusing in time – 34-726 of the 2R sets (the one you can buy now) doesn’t have the strengthening ribs but if i understand correctly, the new 34-726A and 34-726B will have them.

    Cue much chaos!

    Graham – could you please suggest to Bachmann that they have a different number for visually different models – after all, they don’t have a single code for all the liveries of Mk 1 BSKs!

    Question please–Did S6733 ,S6718 have BR malachite before BR green-i.e never had CLC?
