Picture of the Month – July 2020

This months picture…

A change to the norm for picture of the month, one of my own favourites of 35006 Peninsular and Oriental S.N Co about to run around her train at Cheltenham Racecourse Station, taken at the annual 35006 Locomotive Society members and shareholders day, usually held in July.

More information about how you can support the 35006 Locomotive Society can be found here.

PS. Happy we got rid American Independence Day to my USA readers on the 4th,  a date that is overshadowed by my own  birthday…

  1. From any angle the MNs are lovely, purposeful machines.

Wishing you Happy Birthday for the 4th, Graham.

You may have seen in Railway Bylines, July 2018, an article with some great photos of the Royal Pier Railway in Southampton. The lower photo on page 377 is simply beautiful and has set my modelling genes all of a quiver! That Shanks loco, all pipework, so tiny and ungainly (complete opposite of a Bulleid Pacific!) and the typography of the advertising on the ends of the awnings simply ooze character. Have you modelled, or do you know anyone who has modelled, this feature? For me, it’s the perfect subject for a diorama, and it could be temporarily operated by “Guernsey” until someone (me?) builds a Shanks.
    best regards
