Hornby have today announced further new items as part of their forthcoming TT:120 gauge range for 2025.
The headline news for Southern modellers is new tooled LBSC A1/A1X terriers and 4 wheel coaches. Also sneaking into the range is a basic version of an LWSR B4 ‘Normandy’ included within a Branchline Freight Train Set.
The William Stroudley designed A1 / A1x class first introduced by the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway (LBSC) in 1872 and eventually the class comprised of 50 locomotives. Most were withdrawn in the very 1900s, however 21 gained a new lease of life and were fitted with new boilers and other modifications between 1912 and 1920 and became designated the A1X class. A few members of the original A1 class were sold by the LBSC to other railway companies, including the SECR, LSWR and Kent & East Sussex Railway and Isle of Wight Central Railway, and survived in A1 form, although even these were subject to many other modifications throughout their lifetime. Many of the class in various guises and conditions have survived into preservation.
The model’s running plate, boiler /smokeboxes and cab will be die-cast. The first three ‘Terriers’ being produced are as follows:
- TT3038M SR A1x Terrier W14 Bembridge – in lined Maunsell Green with extended bunker as running on the Isle of Wight between May 1929 and May 1936 – Due July 2025
- TT3039M LB&SCR A1 Terrier Brighton – in LBSC Stroudley “Improved Engine Green livery as running between November 1878 and January 1902 – Due November 2025
- TT3040M BR A1x Terrier 32655 in BR Lined black with early crest as running between December 1949 and early 1957 – Due November 2025
To accompany the Terriers new tooled LBSC 4 wheel coaches are being produced, due December 2025, as follows:

- TT4059 BR 4 Wheel Coach 1st Class
- TT4060 BR 4 Wheel Coach 3rd Class

Also announced is a basic version of an LWSR B4 ‘Normandy’ included within a Branchline Freight Train Set.
- TT1005M Branchline Freight Train Set, with a couple of generic wagons. ‘Normandy’ is in an as preserved condition with her name on the tanks in Southern Sunshine style lettering. Due November 2025
