KMRC announces new production run of our Exclusive ex LSWR / SR Diagram 1541 10T Road Vans

Kernow Model Rail Centre have announced seven new versions of their ex LSWR / SR Diagram 1541 10T Road Vans and includes a Longmoor Military Railway version for the first time.

First introduced by the London & South Western Railway (LSWR) in 1884 they were later classified as Southern Railway Diagram 1541. Almost 500 of these vans were built between then and 1905 making them the most numerous LSWR Goods Brake Van. Such goods brake vans with side doors through which parcels or other goods could be loaded, were known as road vans.

Included within the seven versions are different liveries including original LSWR, pre-1936 Southern Railway, British Railways grey, Longmoor Military Railway, and No. 5706 that is preserved on the Bluebell Railway.
The tooling has also catered for the Mainland and Isle of Wight versions with either straight or cranked step board supports (as fitted on the IoW versions) and round or ribbed shanked buffers. The Longmoor Military Railway obtained seven of these Diagram 1541 road vans between 1938 and 1943. The LMR liveried version will also feature the districting plates that were affixed to the body sides for the LMR lettering.

The models are £34.99 each, details of the seven versions being produced are below:

SB003L LSWR 10 Ton Goods Brake Van number 5190 in LSWR Brown livery with red ends. (Mainland)
SB003M LSWR 10 Ton Goods Brake Van number 56051 in SR pre-1936 Brown livery with red ends. (Isle of Wight)

In my role as Development Manager Kernow Model Rail Centre I advise: “Our Exclusive ex LSWR Diagram 1541 Road vans that were produced in 2021 proved very popular, so we have taken to opportunity to produce a second batch focusing on the liveries that sold out quickly before and also include for the first time a Longmoor Military Railway liveried version.”
